Refashion for women: Anthropologie inspired “Tutu Shirt”

Here is my design results.

I love it, it looks way more expensive than just 3.50, right?

Would you like to find out how I did it?

Here is my inspiration, this “Tutu Tank” from Anthropologie

(note that the ruffles go around the neckline and down at an angle on the left side of the shirt. And, the top layer of ruffles are shorter than the other layers.)

Here it is how I did mine.

I starting dividing the back and front of one of the shirts

then I cut the back like this

then I gather each piece (I have 5 of them)

(in order to gather, sew a basting stitch and then pull the thread to gather the piece)

I lay and pin the ruffles just like my inspiration, layer by layer

(at the very top of the left hand side are two layers of little ruffles. Use any leftover material to make these.)

now, cut your front like this

then I used the 2 big pieces, I cut off the top shoulders part

and I also cut the bottom edge into a round shape

gather the 2 pieces

then place and pin them, last 2 layers

Sew each piece to the shirt, start with the top ruffle around the neck. You can flip the upper ruffle out of the way. You want to make sure that the underneath ruffle covers the top of the bottom ruffle.

And you are done!
