Halloween Craft- Witch’s Face from a Footprint

Halloween Craft for kids: Witch’s Face from a Footprint

Make a very simple witch’s face from your child’s footprint and keep it year to year as a keepsakes. It is also a great craft to practice fine motor skills such as cutting and drawing shapes – and – facial expressions.

Classified: Medium and is great for the preschool aged child.

What you need:

  1. Brown or black yarn.
  2. Black and green paint
  3. Green O cereal such as Fruit Loops
  4. Ziti noodles
  5. Wiggle eyes
  6. Black pipe cleaner
  7. Black paper
  8. White paper or cardboard to print your witch’s footprint onto
  9. Glue
  10. Yellow or white crayon
  11. Scissors
  12. Paintbrushes

What to do:
1. Paint your child’s footprint green and print it upside down onto a piece of paper or cardboard. Allow to dry.

2. Paint several pieces of dried ziti noodles black.

3.  In the meantime, cut a triangle out of black paper and have your preschooler draw stars and a moon on it using a yellow/white crayon.

4. To practice cutting, have your preschooler cut several 1″ pieces of yarn for the witch’s hair.

5. Assembly: Glue the pieces of hair to the side of the witch’s head, glue on the witch’s hat, eyes and nose (green O cereal) and the painted noodles to form the witches robe.

6. Discuss how a scary witch’s face may look. Make it more interesting by having your preschooler demonstrate the scary look to them self in the mirror. Bend and form the pipe cleaner into a scary position and glue to the witch’s face.
