Gifts bride: How to Make a Birdcage Veil

The Birdcage Veil

Materials Needed:
2 feet of 18″ Russian Veiling,
Thread and Needle,

Important Note: There are two sides of the veiling: finished and unfinished. You want the finished end to run across your face NOT the unfinished side.

Photos and concept by Jordan Ferney for Project Wedding. Special Thanks to Alexis Birkmeyer for assisting, Adele White for modeling, and Bille Gniewosz for the dress.

DIY Hero Supplies for Father’s Day

Isabel over at Alpha Mom asked me to create a Father’s Day DIY Project for the site. I was happy to oblige and came up with this box of “Hero Supplies“–a box filled with Dad’s favorite treats. I had fun coming up with the labels. This is actually a really easy project, basically all you need is a printer. You can read the whole post with instructions and download the label designs free right here.

Some of my favorites:

Also, In case you missed it I wrote a list for Alpha Mom a few years ago on 50 Things to do with your children before they grow up in San Francisco.

Birthday Tree

Here is a little birthday tree I made for a friend. You could use this concept for any special occasion.(It could easily be an “anniversary-tree” or a “having-a-bad-week-tree.” Basically, I decorated some Dogwood branches with sparkly flowers and ribbons and hung pretty treats in the branches. I really love party poppers but they are so darn ugly. Solution? Spray Paint them gold! I also put little presents and notes in the boxes for her to open each day. (Am I the only one who likes to drag out my birthday celebration?) If you did a group present you could ask everyone to bring something to hang from the tree (like a note or small present or candy.) And after all the hullabaloo is over it looks pretty just sitting there on its own.

I’ll post more detailed instructions later this week.

Lemonade Favors

This is a post I did for Project Wedding. Fresh Squeezed Lemonade favors packaged in a pretty Italian bottle (from Ikea!) These would also be really cute for a favor shower. (Plus isn’t that a cute vintage dress? Go Ebay!)
