Who Said Bow Tie’s Are Just For Boys?!

This bow tie necklace is such a fun accessory! There are endless possibilities, and you can use almost any fabric!
So far I have experimented with both felt and fabric, but I’m thinking burlap next! If you haven’t noticed yet, I have been a little burlap obsessed lately.
 the felt bow tutorial
And now I’ll show you how to make a fabric bow
Start with two rectangles that are 2×4 inches and one that is 1/4x 2.5 inches.
Place the two larger rectangles right side together.
Sew leaving a 1/4 inch seam around the edges leaving a 1 inch opening on one of the shorter sides.
Turn your fabric right side out, and pin the opening closed. Sew across the entire side. I also stitched across  the other short side.
Fold the middle as picture below, and pin the layers together in the center.
Add a few stitches to the center, securing the three layers together.
For the center of the bow take the small rectangle and fold the ends in length wise. Pin together.
Sew lengthwise down the center.
Wrap the piece around the center of the bow leaving about a half inch on top.
Fold the excess in half.
Secure with hot glue.
Pull a chain through the back of the bow. And enjoy your beautiful necklace!
See, bow ties can be for girls too!
I think I’m addicted to making these bows now!
