Crafty jewelry: Streaming Glory Earrings tutorial

These fashionable earrings incorporate draping chain with a patriotic burst of color. Use them as a fun addition to your wardrobe during the 4th of July or modify the color scheme for a design that you can easily wear every day of the year.

Step one:
Cut the following chain into the lengths specified and set them aside:

  • Two 1 1/4-inch pieces of silver-plated double rollo chain
  • Two 1 1/2-inch pieces of silver-plated twisted curb chain
  • Two 1 1/2-inch pieces of double rollo chain
  • Two 1 3/8-inch pieces of double rollo chain
  • One 1 3/8-inch piece of silver-plated curb chain

Step two:
String a Swarovski 4mm faceted round in Sapphire onto a 1-inch 24 gauge head pin. Finish with a simple loop. Repeat with nine Sapphire rounds, nine Swarovski 4mm round pearls in White, five Swarovski 4mm XILION bicones in Light Siam and four Swarovski 5mm XILION bicones in Light Siam. When finished, you should have 28 beaded dangles.

Step three:
Add the following items in the order mentioned onto the 1 1/2-inch endless beading hoop:

  • String a 2.5mm round stardust bead with 1.1mm hole, Sapphire dangle, stardust bead, pearl dangle and one end of a 1 1/4-inch piece of silver-plated double rollo chain.
  • String a 4mm Light Siam dangle, stardust bead, Sapphire dangle, stardust bead, pearl dangle and one end of a 1 1/2-inch piece of silver-plated twisted curb chain.
  • String a 5mm Light Siam dangle, stardust bead, Sapphire dangle, stardust bead, pearl dangle and one end of a 1 1/2-inch piece of double rollo chain.
  • String a 4mm Light Siam dangle, stardust bead, Sapphire dangle, stardust bead, pearl dangle and one end of a 1 3/8-inch piece of double rollo chain.
  • String a 5mm Light Siam dangle, a stardust bead, Sapphire dangle, stardust bead, pearl dangle and one end of a 1 3/8-inch piece of silver-plated curb chain.

This is the center of the pattern. Continue the bead pattern and mirror the chain pattern to finish the other half of the hoop.

Step four:
Gather the free ends of the chains onto a 4.2mm sterling silver open jump ring. Close the jump ring.

Step five:
Create a 90 degree bend approximately 1/4-inch from the end of the beading hoop so that the wire is sticking straight up. Thread the end through the loop in the beading hoop and finish it with a small simple loop. Use a jump ring to attach the jump ring with chains to the simple loop. Attach a French hook earwire with 3mm stardust bead to the same simple loop. Repeat steps one through five to create the second earring.
