Crafts bags:  Revamped Tote Bag Tutorial

Sewing pattern

Do you ever notice the plain tote bags at almost any craft store? They’re sturdy, but kind of boring, so I decided to dress one up! I got mine for $1.00 on sale at Hobby Lobby and had the fabric on hand.
What you’ll need:
  • Tote Bag
  • Two fabric strips
Start by taking your tote and cutting it in half. Mine was 13inches, so I cut at 6.5inches.
Take your two fabric strips, mine were 6x22inches. Using the longest straight stitch possible on your machine sew across the top and bottom of each strip. Do not back stitch or knot the ends of your thread.
With right sides facing together pin one strip to the bottom half of the tote bag.
Be sure you tuck and sew the ends of the fabric in the seam of the tote bag.
Repeat with the other fabric strip on the opposite side.
Fold both fabric strips so the right sides are facing the tote bag and pin the strips together on each side.
Sew the two pieces together on each side. Fold up.
Take the top half of the bag and flip inside out.
Slide over the bottom half so the right sides are facing together.
Sew along edge attaching the fabric strip to the top of the bag.
Flip the bag right side out, and enjoy!
