Crafts and recycling: Outgrown Shirts and Patchwork Skirts

Here’s a mend and make do no-brainer.  Add a patchwork skirt of your favorite scraps to a too-short t shirt.
I cut out 18 patchwork scraps, each 4 by 8 inches.

I sewed them in three strips of six squares each, then sewed the three long lengths together.
Join the side seam and finish the bottom hem of the skirt.
Gather the top edge to approximately the width of the tshirt hem.
Right sides together, sew the skirt to the bottom edge of the shirt.

I top stitched the pink dress and decided it was a messy science, so I skipped that step on the blue dress.

Simple, sweet and recycled.
